A driving force behind many organisations

The Volunteer for the Month of February is Mr Cec Balcombe of Canowindra.

Cec is a dedicated citizen of Canowindra who has providing many hundreds of hours of volunteer work to his community.

Community Achievements

Cec has played a large role in the development of many projects in and around his local area of Canowindra. He maintains a continual interest in participating in these projects, for the benefit of the community.

Cec played a key role in establishing the Canowindra Men’s Shed and is a driving force in its ongoing success as an active member of the committee.

He has given many hours of his time to the community by being involved with “Meals on Wheels” delivering food and supplies to frail aged people throughout the whole of Cabonne. Cecil is also highly involved with the Canowindra “Food Basket” run by the Uniting Church.

He is also an essential part of the “Golden Oldies” and organises monthly bus outings for the elderly people of the Canowindra community often driving the bus himself.

He is a keen voluntary supporter to local sporting teams and is a life member of the Canowindra Rugby Union club.

Cec has helped develop and assists with many local events in Canowindra including the monthly Saturday markets which were originally established by Cec and are now run by Rotary. He was also the sports shear organiser and assists with the annual Canowindra show and has been a strong supporter of Marti’s Balloon Festival.

He also volunteers many hours of his time to numerous other charities and organisations in and around Canowindra.

Summary

Cec is a valued, active member of Canowindra and the Cabonne community. His selfless acts are greatly appreciated by all those who have benefited from it.

His caring attitude towards others and commitment to the improvement of his community makes him a worthy recipient for Council’s Volunteer of the month award for February.
