Artists exhibition a wish come true

22 Aug, 2007 09:07 AM
The Make a Wish Foundation will benefit from two artists preparing to open an exhibition next month in Canowindra.

Amber Martin and Melissa Lazarou are busy preparing to their next artistic offering, titled Wide Open Spaces.

Accompanying the exhibition opening and staging at The Old Vic Inn is a silent auction for one of the pieces on show, with all proceeds to go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Melissa said she and her exhibiting partner, Amber, chose the Make a Wish Foundation because they both have children, and felt strongly about supporting children's charity.

Established in 1985, Make-A-Wish Australia brings magic and joy to children and young people with a life-threatening illness by granting their most cherished wishes.

Wish children are between the ages of 4 and 18 years and live with life-threatening illnesses. Doctors, health professionals or parents apply to the Foundation to grant a wish to a child they know. Volunteer 'wish fairies' then visit eligible children and ask them to reach into their imaginations to think of their one cherished wish.

Melissa and Amber invite the community to join the two artists at the opening on September 1.

The opening starts from 6.30pm.

Wide Open Spaces will run throughout September.
