Australian Federation of University Women winner announced next Saturday

The first function for 2009 of the Australian Federation of University Women (AFWU) Central West Branch will be at the Cowra Golf Club on Saturday, February 28, at 6.30pm for 7.00pm.

The winner of the 2008 HSC Scholarship will be announced and presented with the award of $1,000.

This annual award is presented to the female student with the highest UAI score who has lived and attended school in the Central West in 2008 and who was been accepted into a university in 2009.

The Dr Barbara Wright Scholarship will not be presented at this dinner.

This is a bi-annual scholarship to assist women from the Central West to attain a post graduate degree.

For the first time, information about the scholarship and applications forms are now available on the AFUW website: www.afwunsw.org.au or by contacting Dr L. E. Forster, AFWU-CW Scholarship Committee, PO Box 577, Cowra NSW 2794.

The winner will be presented with the $4,000 Scholarship in February 2010.

The guest speaker for the dinner on February 28 is Associate Professor Sarah Biddulph (formerly of Canowindra) who is Reader in law at Melbourne University Law School.

Dr Biddulph is Associate Director (China) of the Asian Law Centre, which is one of the lading centres in the world for research and teaching on law in the Asian region.

Our major raffle of weekend for four at Port Macquarie will be drawn on the night.

Tickets for the dinner at a cost of $35 per person are available from the Treasurer, Mrs Maureen Knight at 26 Jerula Lane, Cowra or by phoning Mrs Anne Holloway 6345 1819 or Mrs Jean Mary Fagan 6341 2330.
