The M&D and Billican Productions are combining to bring two outstanding episodes of Fawlty Towers live to the Billimari stage on August 8, 10 and 11.
Do you love Fawlty Towers and did you miss the Cowra Musical and Dramatic Society's production of the classic British comedy earlier this year?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then the M&D and Billican Productions are giving you the chance to change that situation next month.
The M&D and Billican Productions are combining to bring two outstanding episodes of Fawlty Towers live to the Billimari stage on August 8, 10 and 11.
Enjoy the hilarious antics of Basil, Manuel and all the cast as they present The Hotel Inspectors and Gourmet Night.
In The Hotel Inspectors, Basil is terrified by the news that hotel inspectors are in the area - and well he might be. The awful probability occurs to him that the eccentric guest to whom he has been so appallingly offensive may be one of the officials. His ranting turns to pathetic fawning - but has he got the right person?
In Gourmet Night, the cream of Torquay society turns out for a special gourmet night at Fawlty Towers. Expectations are high but so, unfortunately, is the chef. In fact, he's incapably drunk! A desperate Basil hurtles round to a friend's restaurant. His mission is to find a replacement main course - he's out for a duck.
Taking on the role of Basil Fawlty, the unscrupulous, unpleasant and often rude manager of the Fawlty Towers hotel is Lawrance Ryan.
"This has been one of the most challenging roles I have ever played", Lawrance said. "Basil Fawlty is such a well-known character. His manic mood swings, egotism and absolute selfishness have become embedded in popular culture." Playing Basil's long suffering wife Sybil is M&D stalwart Jenny Friend. Craig Drayton performs brilliantly as the constantly assaulted and insulted Spanish waiter Manuel, while Robyn Ryan is the forgiving waitress Polly. Lindsay Cullen, Richard Neate, Sue Perkins, Jenny Thompson, Graham Apthorpe, Craig Johnston and Judy Murray round out the other characters in the show.
Fawlty Towers will be held at the Billimari Hall on Wednesday August 8th, Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th. Commencing at 7pm audience members will enjoy a sumptuous three course meal followed by the two hilarious episodes. Tickets are $25 and bookings are essential. Tickets are available from Monday July 23rd at Regency Jewellers Cowra - 6342 2070 and Country Label Canowindra - 6344 1247.
