Canowindra exhibition tackles global climate change debate

Taste Canowindra's upcoming exhibition titled "Climate Change" will be opened by area Inconvenient Truth expert and former Arts Out West spokesperson Liz Bastion.

Bastion last year completed the Climate Change Project training session with Al Gore, organised by The Australian Conservation Foundation.

The aim of this presentation, which inspired the movie "An Inconvenient Truth", is to disseminate up to date information about Climate Change and to help communities and individuals develop solutions in the face of this planetary emergency.

This exhibition of is one two major exhibitions held each year at taste Canowindra to foster development of new work aimed at developing community engagement with the arts.

Prizes will be awarded in people's choice competitions in three categories: Hung work (paintings, hangings etc.), work will be on show from Justine Boland, Edward Bennets, Mary Douglas, Natalie Reid, Christine Lanham, Ngari Reynolds, David Gough, Bruce Holmes & Margie Crowther. Three dimensional work for internal display (no medium is excluded, ceramics, glass etc and bodies of work will also be accepted in this class), Caroline Briggs, Robyn Gough and Natalie Reid will exhibit in these forms.

The extensive grounds provides an ideal opportunity to display an interesting array of outdoor sculpture, in addition to work displayed internally: Roland Frenda, Ken Hutchinson Kyle Wallace & Natalie Reid have entered sculptures.

A total of fifteen artists will contribute from across the region from as far away as Stuart Town, Bathurst and Forbes with the rest mostly from Cowra and Canowindra.

Wine tasting of 40 different styles & varieties will be offered from 6pm accompanied by nibbles. Musical entertainment will be provided. Bookings for meals will be essential.
