Canowindra Lifeball spreads the message

25 Oct, 2006 07:49 AM
Forty Lifeball players from Wagga Wagga, Blayney, Orange and Canowindra showed that life is still a ball after 50, with a day of fun, exercise, friendly competition and camaraderie at the local tennis courts, hosted by the Canowindra Kookaburra's Lifeball

Group.

If you can overdose on Lifeball, I think we went close to it, as the temperature began to climb. Playing ten minute segments allowed subs to take over, while others took a breather and drink under the shady trees.

The recently formed Blayney Group exuded enthusiasm for their newly found sport and with numbers growing each week, will go from strength to strength.

Their young coach and mentor Ben is so motivated. They are lucky to have him and we look forward to visiting them next month at their beaut indoor sporting complex.

Our members excelled with such a delicious lunch, that had everyone looking for a spot for a little nap, but 12 stalwarts took to the court again to finish a really successful day.

These intertown days are so enjoyable, everyone looks forward to playing old friends.

Our ages ranged from 50ish to 90, without a mishap.

We play Lifeball on Mondays at the town tennis courts at 9.00am.

When daylight savings starts, we play at 7.30am!

Yes, that is not a misprint, we are keen - 7.30am start with daylight saving, to beat the heat.

Everyone is welcome, male and female. Just wear comfy clothes, non slip shoes, maybe a hat and bring some water.

We would love to see you there.

An annual fee of $5 covers player insurance and administration costs, and $2 each week pays the court fee, locally.

Lifeball management is now under the umbrella of Community Fitness Australia.

For more information please phone Sandy on 6344 1776 or Jill.
