Canowindra Public students have been lending a helping hand

20 Dec, 2006 08:07 AM
As part of a unit of work on Beliefs Mrs Sevil's year 4/5 class at Canowindra Public School has raised money to support World Vision. The children gave up their lunchtimes to run cake stalls and discos.

Students at Canowindra Public School participate in a number of activities designed to develop community spirit.

The support of World Vision has helped the students gain an awareness of the world as a community and develop an understanding of our responsibility to help those worse off than us.

The initial aim was to raise sufficient funds to supply a community in Africa with a goat. The children were so keen to help, they raised enough money for the goat, a lamb, two mosquito nets some blankets and clean water.

Many children in the class commented on how good it made them feel to be able to help a community so far away.
