The Cargo Community Hall will undergo a much needed overhaul later this year with the help of a $22,000 funding grant from the Howard-Vaile Government as part of its Regional Partnerships program, NSW Nationals Senator Fiona Nash announced today.
Senator Nash said the Australian Government funds would help the Cargo Progress Association replace the building façade, the iron sheeting on the roof and the guttering as well as paint the entire roof.
"This Regional Partnerships project will ensure the future of the Cargo Community Hall, which is an essential function centre and meeting place for the local community which houses services including the Cowra Early Childhood Mobile Service and the Cargo Cubby House Family Day Care," Senator Nash said.
"The upgrade will help the community attract more events to the hall and retain vital local services."
Senator Nash congratulated the local community for working together to access Regional Partnerships program funding.
"I would particularly like to thank the Central NSW Area Consultative Committee for helping to bring this project to fruition," Senator Nash said.
"I would also like to acknowledge the financial support provided by Cabonne Shire Council, Cargo Community Centre Committee, Cargo P&C Association, Cargo Football Club and the Cargo Progress Association."
The Regional Partnerships program continues the Australian Government's the Australian Government's approach of working with local communities to support their ideas.
A total of $360.9 million is available under the Regional Partnerships Program from 2005-06 to 2006-09.
"The Regional Partnerships Program delivers benefits that will be enjoyed by communities well into the future, not only from program funding, but from the higher levels of economic activity and improved social services which the program generates," Senator Nash said.
