Celebrating our own unique church

27 Jun, 2007 07:50 AM
On June 23 and 24, the Co-operating Uniting church linked congregations of Canowindra, Cranbury and Cudal, and the Anglican Parish of Canowindra celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia.

This commenced with a delicious luncheon in the Canowindra Uniting Church hall on Saturday, which was well attended by locals and visitors alike, and included the cutting of the Birthday Cake by Mrs Thelma Scoble.

Lunch was followed by a very enjoyable afternoon of reminiscences and singing, as well as the sharing of good wishes from people unable to be present, and the exploring of memorabilia.

The Rev's Dr Les Hewitt and his wife Lynette were special guests for the week-end.

Les, who was the first Uniting Church Minister for the Congregations of Canowindra, Cranbury and Cudal, preached at the combined Sunday morning service which also celebrated the Anniversary.

This brought the week-end activities to a close, with many enjoyable memories having been shared, and friendships renewed, as people reflected upon the 30 years of Australia's unique Church.
