Vision Australia last week congratulated the Canowindra Community Health Centre by presenting them with a prestigious award for best practice.
The "Making a Difference award" recognises the positive steps that the Community Health Centre is taking by going the extra mile to ensure that people who are blind or vision impaired are able to live life to its fullest.
Working closely with Vision Australia, Canowindra Community Health Centre has provided Vision Australia client Sheree Paton with a work placement.
"I have been working at Canowindra Community Health Centre for over 4 months now, doing things from working at the front desk greeting patients, to general administration and minute taking," Sheree said
"Canowindra Community Health Centre has opened up a whole new world of opportunity for me. The skills I am developing now will be invaluable in my future career," she added.
Vision Australia is the largest provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. We work in positive partnership with Australians who are blind or vision impaired to ensure they can better adapt to their surroundings and overcome the barriers they encounter.
"Vision Australia applauds the efforts of Canowindra Community Health Centre for developing practical solutions to everyday challenges and above all making a difference", said Kerry Eckersley Team leader, Vision Australia Canberra.
'We hope that individuals and businesses in the community will follow Canowindra Community Health Centre's lead. With support from the local community, no matter how big or small, anyone who is blind or vision impaired can achieve unlimited possibilities and choices in every aspect of their lives", explains Ms Eckersley.
