The residential roll of electors for the Cabonne Local Government elections to be held on Saturday 13 September 2008 will close on 4 August 2008.
The roll will be made up of those who reside in Cabonne and who are enrolled on the Commonwealth/State electoral roll.
Eligible non-resident owners, ratepaying leesees or occupiers will be also included on a separate roll.
“Most people will automatically be included on the electoral roll” said Council’s General Manager Graeme Fleming “but those people who don’t reside in Cabonne but own land, pay rates or occupy a property in Cabonne could still be eligible to vote in the elections if they wish”.
To be included in the Non-residential Owners, Occupiers and Ratepaying Lessees Roll, interested people must complete an enrolment claim form which is available from Council or by visiting Council’s website at www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au.
If a claim for non-residential enrolment was made for a previous council election and you wish to claim enrolment for this election you must re-apply.
Mr Fleming advised that existing residents could also check their enrolment details by contacting the Australian Electoral Office on 132 326.
“I urge everyone that has doubts about their enrolment to check – it can save confusion and frustration in election day,” Mr Fleming concluded.
Voting in Local Government elections is compulsory for all electors included on the residential roll.
