Comfortable win for Cobb

Cobb retains Calare as the nation awaits the prospect of a hung parliament.

With three quarters of the vote counted, John Cobb has comfortably retained the seat of Calare with a large but mostly unchanged margin.

Mr Cobb doubled the amount of first preference votes of his closest challenger, Country Labor’s Kevin Duffy.

The progress figures at 11.30pm were:

John Cobb (Nationals) – 38,472

Kevin Duffy (Country Labor) – 20,954

Jeremy Buckingham (Greens) – 4,092

Paul Blanch (Independent) – 3,270

Karen Romano (Independent) – 2,765

Jessyka Nosworthy (CDP) – 1,525

McGregor Ross (Independent) – 1,382
