Community forum aims to tackle depression in rural communities

Mental health will be the focus of a

community forum to be hosted by the Canowindra Community Health Service.

The forum is being presented with the help of the Black Dog Institute, a clinical, research and educational body dedicated to improving understanding, diagnosis and treatment of depression and other mental health issues.

Any member of the community interested in finding out more about depression should attend, and the cost is just a gold coin donation.

Presenters will include farmers and professors, on topics including Understanding Mood Disorders and Coping with Depression - A Farmers Tale.

Speakers will be Peter Purtell, a farmer from Temora and Belinda Stedman and A/Professor Manicavasager, both from the Black Dog Institute.

Supper will be provided and the venue is the Canowindra Services Club in Gaskill St.

The forum starts from 6.30pm on Wednesday, November 8.
