Cabonne Councillors and Major Ken Duffy have called last weeks community meeting a great success.
More than 80 people turned up to the meeting to discuss issues surrounding Canowindra.
Councillor Anthony Durkin said there was a lot of positive feedback.
“People seem to be happy that their councillors are getting things done in the town.
“Some of the issues bought up were roads, footpaths and the work on the cemetery.
“It was very positive and a lot of people gave input,” Cr Durkin said.
The meeting was so well received that they may occur annually from now on.
“We will look at holding a meeting once every 12 months or every 18 months,” Cr Durkin said.
Mayor Ken Duffy said eight Cabonne Councillors turned up and that “was unheard of”.
“It was great to see councillors getting out of their wards and coming to the meeting.
“People are not just councillors of their area, they are councillors of Cabonne and by their attendance will have a feel and understanding when we discuss Canowindra in the Chamber,” Mr Duffy said.
Mr Duffy said some of the issues raised were the lack of watering in Morris Park, the pool, parking and vandalism.
“People were concerned as we have such a beautiful park in Morris Park, but it just does not get the water.
“With the pool, we will look at a whole restructure, maybe a 50m or 25m.
“People are concerned with the behaviour of some of the young people in town.
“We will have a stiff budget this year, but will look at the issues raised.”
Councillor Kevin Walker held the same opinion as Mr Duffy and Mr Durkin.
“It went really well and I was happy with the turn out.
“Council staff were also there, which was pleasing to see.”
