 Concern for Bowling Club future

Concern for Bowling Club future

26 Jul, 2006 08:07 AM
The Annual General Meeting of the Eugowra Bowling Club is to be held at 11-00am on Sunday 30th July at the Bowling Club.

At a recent meeting of Club Directors, which had to be deferred due to a lack of a quorum, grave concern was held by those present for the future of the club.

Lack of interest from members who are prepared to serve on the board may see the demise of the Club.

Contrary to rumours the Club is NOT IN financial difficulty and is viable.

For the future of the Club a strong active committee is needed.

A spokesperson for the committee wished to remind residents that the Club is not just a Bowling Club (which is a game for all ages) but a community club, the only one we have left in town.

This popular and convenient venue, which is used constantly by the community, would be lost to the town forever if it were to close.

The club is in demand as a venue for the Lion's Club meeting and dinner nights, the Friends of the Sunshine Club for bingo, the annual Senior's Day, wedding receptions, wedding anniversaries, birthday parties, concerts, public meetings, presentation evenings for the Public and St. Joseph's schools, the meeting place following funerals, country and western music muster evenings, a friendly place to meet friends for a drink and a chat and of course BOWLS.

As the members of the board of Directors point out, if it is left to three or four committee men to run, it is not going to work. They are appealing to members to step up and do their bit so this important facility is not lost to the town.

Members wishing to nominate for the board may do so by placing their name on the list at the Club. They may also nominate from the floor at the AGM.

Show your support for the future of the club by attending the AGM on July 30.
