A positive spell in the country for two
metropolitan Physiotherapy students may help to lead them to rural practice in the future.
Canowindra Health Service recently
welcomed two third year physiotherapy
students from Newcastle University, Olivia Rawson and Amy Brown for a four week rural placement.
Both girls have enjoyed the wide variety of work Canowindra has to offer.
They have been to Gooloogong with the Community nurse, spent time with the Speech Pathologist, visited Moyne, run the exercise classes and given clients gym programs.
As part of their placement Amy and Olivia also visited Orange Base Hospital to see the fracture clinic and the operating theatre.
They have embraced the social side of life too - have driven a tractor, caught ducks, ridden a horse, explored farms, been to ladies day at the rugby, picked tomatoes, visited the local schools, been out to dinner and sheared a lamb.
“It’s great to see them having fun as well as working hard to improve their physio skills,” physiotherapist Ash Wright said.
“We have students regularly throughout the year, and it really helps them to enjoy the placement if they participate socially.
“Thank you to the Canowindra Community for making them welcome.”
