This year the Daroo Committee is proud to announce well know actor and speaker Scott McGregor as the MC for the 10th year of the Cabonne Daroo Business Awards.
Scott was the DIY presenter on the Seven Network's long running, Logie award winning, lifestyle show Better Homes and Gardens.
Gretchen Armitage from Cabonne Council states “it is very exciting to have a high profile guest speaker who is very professional and entertaining.
“The Daroo Committee encourages everybody to nominate a business in Cabonne and then come to the 10th birthday celebrations on June 19 to be held at the Yeoval Community Hall”.
The Cabonne Daroo Business Awards were launched at Cabonne Council Chambers on Monday 16th February.
This is the tenth year that Cabonne communities have hosted the popular Daroo Awards, now recognised as a major event on the regional business calendar.
A primary objective of the awards program is to raise the profile of companies and organisations in the Cabonne Shire that are committed to excellence.
Mayor Kevin Duffy said “the Cabonne Daroo awards differ from Main Street awards by acknowledging the various types of businesses and industries in small rural communities.
I encourage people to nominate a business so they can be recognised for the achievements and contributions they have made to the Cabonne region”.
The launch signifies the commencement of the 2009 nomination period, which will extend from February 17 to March 31.
Nominations can be made at various locations in each Cabonne village.
Daroo Awards posters will promote local nomination points across the shire.
All businesses nominated will be issued with evaluation forms and asked to select the category in which their business should be judged.
When complete and returned to the Committee, the entries will then be judged by an independent panel of business people and advisors from both within and outside the Cabonne area, with a mystery shopping process to aid in the Judging process.
The awards are managed by a Daroo committee made up of representatives from each of Cabonne’s eleven communities, with assistance from The Business Enterprise Centre Cabonne Orange Blayney, and Cabonne Council acting as secretariat.
