Deb of the year

18 Nov, 2009 08:05 AM
Canowindra High School P & C Association held a Deb of the Year Ball on Friday, November 13.

With Friday the 13th in mind, the girls chose to have Black & White as their theme. Twelve debutantes took part, nine who had made their debut at the High School ball and three from the Cudal ball. A great night was had by all who attended to support the girls and their partners.

The evening began with the girls and their partners being introduced to the gathering by Miss Stevie Drenkhahn. A delicious meal was then served and the night’s entertainment provided by “Idiot Box” from Cowra began.

At 9:30pm Stevie announced that Monique Kearney was 2009 Deb of the Year with the decision being a difficult one to make by our judges. Monique was partnered on the night by Tom Roth..

Our other debutantes participating were Alisha Smith with partner Tom Abbott, Amy Wythes partnered by Aaron Woolley, Bonny Wythes partnered by James Vitnell, Brittney Baker partnered by Sam Beath, Janelle Zahra partnered by Nick Whatman, Jodie Hare partnered by Abram Wilcox, Kayla Peters partnered by Andrew Watson, Kristi Whiteman partnered by Josh Welsh, Narelle Forbes partnered by Brodie Friend, Peta Edwards partnered by Peter Guthrie and Sarah Ellis partnered by Sean Wyburn.

P & C would like to thank the debs and their partners, all those who attended on the night, Stevie Drenkhahn for comparing and Grant Cummings, Kerrie Smith and the staff of the Canowindra Services & Citizens Club for the catering.

A special thanks goes to Caitlin Walker, Keira-Lee Whatman, Kate Beath and Natalie Hare for their help on the night. The funds raised from the ball will go towards enhancing student learning at Canowindra High School.

Recently P & C donated $1000 towards the Creative Arts excursion to Sydney where students saw “Wicked” and “Sculptures by the Sea” and $2000 was donated towards the purchase of a Hansa Chipper/Mulcher to utilise green waste at school.
