Dragon Boating Paddles Into The Central West

11 Nov, 2009 09:20 AM
Dragon boating began in Orange, on Lake Canobolas, in Late November 2008, and is certainly making waves, with the enthusiasm of the Skipper Pearl Butcher and husband George and The Motley Crew, of some 40 members from 12 years old to 70+, males and females.

Training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30pm, and Saturday mornings at 7:30am.

The boat is 40 foot long, and seats 20 paddlers, with a sweep on the tiller, and a drummer up front.

Life jackets and paddles are supplied and attendance is free the first three tries.

Adult membership is $130, juniors $50, club shirts are $35.

Training and coaching is all directed at Forthcoming Regattas, which draw crew from all over, and are so challenging, friendly, atmospheric and fun. I am told you cannot miss the festivities. Breathtaking!

Dragons Abreast Australia combines with Dragon Boating NSW in Orange, and is a sporting club for breast cancer survivors of which we have 5 members.

All are welcome to come along and have a try. Phone Sandy 63441776 for further information.
