DVD recording of Eugowra history

Items discussed at the December meeting of the Eugowra Promotion & Progress Assoc (EPPA) meeting included:

1- (a)Following the letter to Cabonne Council complaining of lack of maintenance at the Eugowra Cemetery a further letter was sent to Council seeking the provision of additional resources for town maintenance, that the maintenance employee be retained in town at all times, that a local depot be provided and that an additional maintenance member be allocated (b)letters from Council re the Grevillea Ave/Pye St stop sign, quotes for tourist brochures, details of interpretive signage at Escort Rock, successful application for Events Assistance Grant of $5,000 from Cabonne Council for the 2012 Sesquicentenary Escort Rock celebrations- (c) letters to Cabonne re landfill opening hours, Casuarina Drive maintenance, Pool attendant’s qualifications, final viewing of Escort Rock signage

2- Maintenance needed on the guttering of the RTC building

3- The report from the Museum committee (a) involved the advice that Andrew Barnes had interviewed long time residents as part of his voluntary DVD project recording the history of Eugowra. Cabonne Council had previously donated $500 towards the cost of this project.

Copies of the DVD will be on sale at the Museum (b) the Museum will rejoin Arts Out West (c) Margot Jolly has carried out further research at the Museum (d) Jeff & Priscilla Freeman have joined the volunteers at the Museum and are now opening on Mondays and Tuesdays

4- (a) Australia Day celebrations will commence later this year- the starting time will be 2-00pm at the Bowling Club where Andrew Barnes will be the Ambassador, the launch of the DVD, the presentations of awards, afternoon tea etc before everyone is invited to the Mandagery Creek Bridge for the cutting of the ribbon to mark the 70th anniversary of the opening of the bridge - followed by nibbles at the Central Hotel (b) participants in the beard/moustache growing competition for the sesquicentenary celebrations are asked to enter at the Central or Fat Lamb Hotel on this day and must be clean shaven

5- Special insurance taken out for the Sesquicentenary celebrations in June is for public liability cover only- individuals and stall holders must have their own insurance

6- The Utility Dog trials will be held in conjunction with the Sesquicentenary celebrations

7- The subcommittee appointed to inspect the most suitable site for overnight caravan parking sites indicated the Memorial Park to be the best.

The next meeting of the EPPA will be held on Tuesday February 14 at the CWA Rooms starting at 7-30pm.

All members of the public are invited to attend - if you have any ideas or suggestions for the town please take them along.
