With the car wash under their belt the group bound for Montana is a step closer to achieving their dream.
Six Canowindra High School (CHS) students and three Forbes students will make the trek to Montana in July this year.
Five years ago a group from CHS went on the initial trip and now nine students will follow in their footsteps on the two week journey.
The students will stay with local families and experience what life is like on the other side of the world.
The students will visit Yellowstone National Park, the Little Bighorn Battlefield, the old gold mining town of Virginia City and go hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains.
It is hoped that through billeting the students will experience first hand what it is like living in America and form lasting friendships.
A trip to Australia is planned for the American hosts in 2010.
Local coordinator and former Montana resident Jeanine Gibby said the students are working hard to raise money for the trip.
“They have in excess of $1000, but are looking to raise $5000.”
The Canowindra community has already been very supportive and the students would like to thank them.
