Eugowra Champion bound for the Royal

10 Mar, 2010 08:47 AM
Eugowra horticulturalist David Herbert has been named a ‘Show Champion’ ahead of the 2010 Sydney Royal Easter Show in recognition of his ongoing dedication.

Each year, the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) selects a group of exhibitors, entertainers and participants from across regional NSW who represent the myriad of Sydney Royal competitions to be ‘Show Champions’.

Mr Herbert has been a part of the Western District Exhibit team for 20 years. He will return again this year to help construct more then 10,000 pieces of fresh produce into a scene capturing the spirit of the Western District.

Chief Executive of the RAS, Peter King, is encouraging the Eugowra community to get behind their local Show Champion and pay a visit to the District Exhibits at this year’s Easter Show.

“The Show is a celebrated meeting place for country families to catch up and see the best in agriculture from across NSW,” Mr King said.

“And while every day of the Show is a celebration of great Australian produce, this year we have introduced ‘Excellence in Agriculture Day’ – a brand new event in the Easter Show calendar to celebrate our agricultural heritage and recognise our latest achievements.

“To be held on Thursday 8 April, Excellence in Agriculture day acknowledges the ongoing contribution our farmers and graziers make to Australia’s food and fibre industries and we will be encouraging exhibitors and Showgoers to share their experiences.”

Families travelling to the Easter Show from Eugowra can pick up a discount of 15% by purchasing their print-at-home Family ShowLink ticket online at www.eastershow.com

“We encourage all our Showgoers to jump online and plan their day before they come to the Show,” Mr King said. “Our website also includes great Carnival offers, a daily planner and the full list of Showbags so you can make the most of your visit to the Show.”
