Canowindra Public School has been allocated more than $80,000 to undertake music and library programs and upgrade its oval.
The Federal Government funding totals $83,928 and has been granted for five projects at the school.
The biggest project will be turfing the school oval and installing a watering system at a cost of about $42,000.
Currently the oval resembles a dust bowl and weekly sport is conducted at an oval outside of the school.
Principal Eric Toole said improving the oval would benefit all of the students.
“It’s been an ongoing project of the P and C for a number of years but it was beyond us to raise the funds,” he said.
“We’re a very successful sporting school and this will allow us to build on that and do sport and training here.”
The school currently has five “smartboards”, a type of electronic touch screen blackboard that can access the internet.
Funding of $12,499 has been allocated to purchase three more, meaning there will be one in every classroom.
Over $13,000 has also been allocated for the purchase of musical instruments.
“The school band was in a bit of a decline this year because the instruments were too old,” Mr Toole said.
“We’re hoping with an improvement in instruments that more students will be interested in learning, because with the old instruments it was too hard to make them sound good.”
Over $10,000 has been allocated for outdoor furniture and more than $5000 for updating books in the library.
Mr Toole said parents and the community helped identify priority areas for funding, and this input was highly valued.
Canowindra High School was allocated $67,942 in the same round of funding.
