Students from Year 8 at Canowindra High School will be displaying an exhibition of impressive artworks at the Taste Canowindra gallery as the
culmination of their recent studies of Australian heroes in Integrated Studies.
The exhibition is styled after the successful Peoplescape exhibition held on the lawns of Old Parliament House for Federation celebrations in November 2001.
On that occasion contributors were invited to represent a hero on a life-size, freestanding plywood body silhouette.
Year 8 have taken inspiration from the 2001 Federation Peoplescape in creating their own freestanding Peoplescape exhibition of Australian heroes for Canowindra.
Working in small groups or individually, the students have created 3D collage silhouettes which reflect their understanding of important aspects of their chosen hero's life.
This has been a challenging but exciting project for all involved as the students have not worked on this scale before and the students are looking forward to presenting their works for display.
The exhibition will be opened to the public at Taste Canowindra on Friday 28th July at 7pm and will run for one week.
A gold coin donation for entry to the exhibition would be greatly appreciated as the students are raising funds to purchase audio equipment for the school's English Department.
Wine tasting will be available for over 18s at the exhibition opening and light food will be served.
Year 8 would like to publicly thank Mr Ray Clements for his generous donation of timber for this project.
We would also like to thank Bob and Margaret Craven for hosting our exhibition at Taste Canowindra.
