Canowindra High School is trialling a new food initiative that may help concentration span and behaviour early in the school day.
A special breakfast menu started at the canteen on Monday, January 30, between 8.30am to 8.45am, just prior to classes but after the arrival of school buses.
Students will be able to purchase toasted sandwiches, muffins, cereal, untoasted cheese and bacon buns, fruit, flavoured milk and juice at a cost of $1.50 per item.
A combo will be available where students can purchase both a food item and a drink for $2.50.
The P and C has worked out the trial menu with canteen manager Sue Townsend, who is looking forward to the new challenge which she hopes will benefit both the students and the teachers.
Studies have shown students who skip breakfast before coming to school may lack concentration.
