Hot and firey meeting hosted

27 May, 2009 10:48 AM
Canowindra Fire Station was the hottest place to be on Monday, May 18 as Inspectors and NSW Regional Fire bosses from all over NSW converged for their annual NSW Western Region Fire Service meeting.

Canowindra Fire Captain Bill Paul said it was a good experience and a chance for members to come and see the countryside.

“We facilitated the meeting. It was the first time we have held a meeting like this.

“It was very interesting,” Captain Paul said.

Captain Paul said Canowindra was a central location, and probably why their station was picked.

“People had to come from Sydney, Dubbo, Leeton, Orange and Bathurst.

“I don’t know but I reckon they might hold one in Molong next time.”

The meeting was organised so budgets could be reviewed, people could network and generally get a feel for how everything is going.

Another important part of the meeting is actually discussing how the zone is going.

“It just gives everyone a chance to meet up and

discuss how things are going,” Captain Paul said.
