Industrial heritage to be celebrated in images

22 Feb, 2006 07:54 AM
To celebrate this year's NSW Heritage Festival being held in April, Cabonne Council is conducting a photographic competition from the general community emphasising its industrial heritage. The theme of the Heritage Festival 2006 is Industrial heritage - Our Working Lives.

The photographic competition will be held in three categories with prizes in each category. Director of Environmental Services Greg Cooper says that the aim of the competition is to nourish a greater awareness of heritage in the community.

"With its grain milling focus, the Cabonne area has a wealth of industrial heritage, it being important to recognise the connection between the economy of the shire and its industrial base." Mr. Cooper said.

Photographs will be displayed and judged during the Heritage Festival (1-16 April), with it being proposed to use photographs submitted in the general promotion of the shire.

Cabonne Council will provide information relating to the competition, including application forms, on its web site (www.cabonne.nsw.gov.au.) and the central office in Bank Street, Molong.
