Matilda Berry and Nicholas Daly from Canowindra High School were among 22 students from throughout the Electorate who visited NSW Parliament House last week as part of the School Leaders' Program.

Member for Dubbo Dawn Fardell described the students' visit as a wonderful opportunity to spend time with student leaders and for them to gain an understanding of parliamentary democracy.

"Although Parliament is in recess, students were given a behind the scenes tour which included a visit to the "bear pit" - the Legislative Assembly Chamber.

"My hope is that these visits will not only give our young people greater insight into the workings of State Parliament but also hone their own leadership potential.

"I am always impressed with the way our young people conduct themselves during these parliamentary visits. They are tremendous ambassadors for their communities, and parents and teachers can be proud of the maturity and confidence they display.
