Canowindra Health Service has not one, but two physiotherapy students taking their classroom theory into the practical world, as part of an internship program.
University of Newcastle third year students Peter Enks and Brian Ng Hung Shin are currently a week into the program and are already impressed with the variety of physiotherapy work they have experienced here.
Although always working under the supervision of the Health service physiotherapists, the range of work has been far broader and more hands on than metropolitan hospital work they have previously encountered.
For the supervising physiotherapists, it's also a chance to discuss the latest developments and theories in academic circles.
The two students were also impressed with the friendly, welcoming attitude that can characterise working in country areas.
"Working here has been very different to where we were before at Newcastle. People here are far more easy going and friendlier," Brian said.
The experience Canowindra has provided so far already has them considering future work in a regional area.
The two will undergo further internship placement as they progress through their degree, with another year to go before they graduate.
