Just a few dollars short of council pitching in

11 Jun, 2008 09:29 AM
The skate park committee has just about raised the $30,000 needed to ensure a donation from the Cabonne Shire Council, thanks to the latest donations from the Gun Club, the CWA and Billican Productions, totaling $895.

Billican Productions gave $500, the CWA $95 and the Canowindra Gun Club $300, drawing the committee closer to seeing the skate park a reality.

Spokesperson of the skate park committee Anne Traves said everyone was very grateful for the recent donations.

“We thank everyone who has helped raise this amazing amount of money and we know the children of Canowindra will be forever grateful.”

Once the committee has reached the $30,000 Cabonne Council will match it and then the committee can go about searching for grants.

“Once we have the $60,000 we can make an application to NSW Sport and Recreation and hopefully we will see them match our $60,000,” Ms Traves said.

The next fundraising venture is the wood raffle. Raffle tickets are available in local shops and people will be selling tickets in town on Saturday July 5.

“We are hoping this will be our last fundraising event. We have had offers of in kind support and asking those people to write letters soon so we can send them away with the NSW Sport and Recreation application letter,” Ms Traves said.
