Students in Year 9 at Canowindra High this year will be able to get their hands on a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad to help them complete schoolwork both in class and at home.
The school will receive 40 laptops as part of a statewide roll-out for students in Year 9 at public schools.
Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X130e, valued at almost $700, was developed in co-operation with the NSW Department of Education and Communities to meet students’ educational needs.
The lightweight laptop features the latest generation Intel Celeron or i3 processors, fast, integrated graphics, and advanced wireless connectivity and multimedia tools.
A reinforced and extra-durable top cover, keyboard and hinges, and rubber protective bumpers will minimise the impact of wear and tear on computers which students will use for a broad spectrum of tasks at school and
home.
The 8.5 hour battery life will also be a boon to students and their schedules.
As part of the package, Lenovo will offer students built-in self-help tools and accidental damage protection and hard drive retention services.
The computers continue to employ built-in Computrace security features which make them worthless and inoperable if stolen.
The laptops are part of the Federal Government’s $442 million Digital Education Revolution in NSW program.
