Canowindra pre school children are enjoying the new caterpillar in the playground, thanks to Steve Brown, Troy Kelly and a group of volunteers.
The pre school wanted to make the playgroup more aesthetically pleasing and more natural.
“Before we put the straw bail built caterpillar in the children played on copper pipes. This is a lot better and more natural,” Mr Kelly said.
Although Steve does not have children that attend the school, he was more than willing to volunteer his time.
“I have just built a straw bail house so I knew how to construct the caterpillar, it was a lot fast than building my house!” Mr Brown said. The caterpillar took three days to construct and most of the time six or more people were helping out.
“We did in the last lot or school holidays,” Mr Brown said.
Soon the plastic play equipment will be replaced with a wooden train.
“That is the next project,” Mr Kelly said.
