Mayor John Farr launches Edith Hurman Estate - Cudal retirement village to be a first for region

19 Jul, 2006 08:01 AM
The Edith Hurman Retirement Estate development was launched today with the creation of a foundation distributing $10,000 annually to support local community projects and activities.

The Edith Hurman Estate, named in memory of Cudal's first doctor in private practice, will be the largest, integrated retirement facility of its kind in the region.

The development includes a combination of 200 self care and 60 assisted care residences combined with world class retail, community medical and social amenities for the residents and their guests.

The retirement wonderland will benefit retirees who have already made their life in this area.

They will soon be able to stay close to friends, family and places they know and love, while enjoying a stylish rural retreat in a breathtaking and familiar natural setting.

Retirees will not be the only ones in the local community to benefit, thanks to the establishment of 'The Viceroy/Edith Hurman Foundation'.

The Foundation, chaired by the Major of Cabonne, John Farr, will call for submissions from community groups seeking financial assistance.

Once established, the foundation will provide $10,000 support annually to local community projects and activities.

"I am delighted to launch our new complex in Cudal, and thrilled that Mayor John Farr has agreed to chair our Foundation," said Paul Singer, Managing Director of Viceroy.

"Viceroy believes in creating a place where retirees can live their lives to the fullest. The Edith Hurman Estate won't simply be a place to live, but a thriving community and gateway to a range of lifestyle choices from the simple to the sophisticated," Mr Singer continued.

"It gives me great pleasure to be involved with the launch of the Edith Hurman Estate," said John Farr, Mayor of Cabonne Council

"From our experience of similar developments, the new complex will give a real boost to local businesses and charities, as residents are always keen to become actively involved in the local community. And I am sure that the Foundation will make a real difference to the local community through its support of projects and activities," added Mr Farr.
