Canowindra's Men's Shed is now compliant with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, with necessary work on its electricity supply now completed.
'Shed' treasurer Max Baldwin said cords
tangling people and stretching across the rooms were now a thing of the past.
He encouraged people to visit the shed, have a look and learn more about the facility.
"We want people to realise the facility is there so come and have a look," Mr Baldwin said.
At present, membership totals 30 people, with a small membership fee of $10 helping to fund essential group costs.
He stressed that the social aspect of meeting with other retired men was just as important as having something 'hands on' to do.
"A lot of our members are aged so they just come in for a chat, a cup of tea or coffee and sit and yak," Mr Baldwin said.
"A lot of people when they are retired need somewhere to go and something to do."
For those who are utilising the shed for small wood working projects, the group has also just completed two work benches and is making inquiries about leatherwork to broaden the areas of interest.
"Now that we have proper lighting, and proper power points coming down from the ceiling, we will be able to do a lot more," Mr Baldwin
said.
"We have been donated a lot of wood working equipment, which we haven't been able to use really until now."
The group will continue to focus on making the building a better site, and is now looking at improving toilet facilities, Mr Baldwin said.
In the meantime, the committee is concentrating on grant applications to secure additional funding to help realise the group's dreams.
"We need government grants to get these projects underway. Other sheds have got some sizeable grants.
"We have got an ideal building and a terrible lot of support. We are currently concentrating on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, being open from 9am to 1pm, but if we can get the right supervision, we will it open every day."
If you are interested in becoming a part of the community project, the Canowindra Men's Shed, just call into the building any Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
