Message from Principal of Canowindra High School

16 Dec, 2009 07:44 AM
Wow...... I cannot believe it is the final week of term four.

This last week will be a huge finish to an incredibly busy 2009.

While it seems so insignificant to say thanks, with a tired brain and hence no other creative words to express how I feel, that is how I would like to finish off the final newsletter for 2009.

First of all thank you to our deputy principal Ms Nicole Bugeja, who settled very quickly into her new role half way through the year. Nicole immediately jumped into the saddle and has led the deputy principal operations very effectively ever since.

I also want to recognise and say thank you to each of the head teachers for their work and willingness to adjust roles throughout the year as we have reviewed and changed operations.

I appreciate their professionalism and willingness to do things differently as we have developed the school.

Particular good wishes to Mr David Wickham as he leaves our school at the end of the year. Good luck in particular to Paul Williams who at the end of the week finishes full time teaching.

Thank you also to all of our support staff, who in many different and varied areas, contribute and indeed ensure the functioning of the school on a daily basis, often in small and unseen ways.

Without them, we could not do it! Finally, thank you to parents and community members who have also contributed in big and small ways throughout the year.

Thanks in particular to parents and community members who support the P&C each month.

I am looking forward to seeing students in years seven, eleven and twelve return on Thursday 28 January and all other students on Friday 29 January.

The school is anxiously awaiting the release of the HSC results today – no doubt students in year twelve are also on tender hooks! Good luck to all.

Congratulations to Sarah Clunes – a 2010 year seven student currently at Cargo Public School who has been accepted into ‘iextend’ Western Region’s Virtual Gifted and Talented class next year.

This means Sarah has been assessed as one of the most talented students in year 7 2010 from across Western Region.

We look forward to welcoming Sarah and the other new year seven students on 28th January next year and supporting them to maximise their achievement.

Over recent days, we have finalised staffing for 2010.

As announced last week, our new English head teacher will be Mrs Helen Uren‐Randall. Helen is currently teaching in Canberra and has been relieving as Head Teacher for the last two years.

Enjoy a safe, relaxing and happy Christmas season and holidays.

David Lloyd

Principal
