Cabonne Mayor Kevin Duffy has praised the Federal Government for their assistance to a number of community based projects in Cabonne over the last week.
The projects relate to funding for an amount of $74,545 for the Molong Historical Society to enable necessary repairs and upgrading of their Museum building, a $93,455 grant for the Molong Cycleway which is a joint project of the Molong Advancement Group and Cabonne Council and lastly, the partnership entered into with local farmers and long time sustainable farming advocates, Michael and Tania Pratten for “Koolewong” property at Borenore, as part of an endangered woodland project.
“At a local government level it is important that these type of grants and support is received from other levels of government and I want to congratulate Minister Garrett, Albanese and Burke for their announcements” Clr Duffy said.
“I attended the Australian Council of Local Government Forum in Canberra last year where our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, promised to form stronger partnership and links with local government and I am pleased to see he is true to his word.
“I look forward to these types of partnerships and funding continue into the future as it will provide much needed benefit to communities, organisations and individuals in rural Australia” Clr Duffy concluded.
Clr Duffy concluded by saying that the Federal Government’s Regional Community and Local Infrastructure Program, which provided funding for community based projects right across the Shire from Mullion Creek to Nashdale to Canowindra, Molong and Yeoval provided a model that he was keen to see used again in the future.
