Storms that damaged roads in the Cargo area last month have been declared a natural disaster by the NSW government.
The declaration will open the way for Cabonne Council to receive funding to cover the cost of about $900,000 worth of damage to roads and bridges.
Council's Director of Engineering Rob Staples said funding would be allocated after RTA inspections of damaged roads.
"There was quite a lot of road infrastructure washed away. Council was doing some works preparing for bridge replacements. We lost the detours when the creeks flooded," he said.
Mr Staples said council hoped to complete the repair work by the end of this year.
Farmers who lost livestock during the storms have been given disaster relief.
The storms also cost Centra Tablelands Water about $40,000 when the main water pipe from Lake Rowlands to Cargo cracked under the pressure.
Cabonne Mayor John Farr said it was in the interests of road-users to have the repair work done as soon as possible.
"Cargo Rd is very narrow and we can't afford to have road verges dropping off the side," he said.
"It does become a very dangerous situation."
