One of Canowindra's favourite tastes is on the move. Canowindra Country Bakehouse owners Casey and Ellen Kemper are in the last stages of a major relocation project and preparing to open their doors on Monday in a new business home.
The distance moved is not great - only just around the corner - but the Kempers believe will be well and truly be worth it, for their customers and for operations.
Thanks to months of renovations, painting, gyprocking and alterations, the sales outlet will now be located in the actual bakehouse itself, in Blatchford St.
"Its amazing how many people do not realise that this building is the actual bakery, but it is," Ellen Kemper said.
"We will now be able to bake on the actual premises, and the new shop offers better parking and easier access for our customers.
"It's also much sunnier and brighter, and with the new awning, we plan to offer light meals and coffee on the footpath at tables."
The move has been months in the planning stages, with a lot of adjustments needed in the new bakehouse to make it just how Casey, the man behind the baking, wanted it.
"We knocked out a wall,
suspended a new ceiling, have been painting and moving all our equipment around," he said.
That's along with signwriting, a new verandah and even concrete stencilling to enhance the footpath presentation.
Customers have been anticipating the new premises for months, and asking how progress was going, which Casey admits, took some time.
"It was a case of putting the idea into action and getting tradesmen organised, but we are finally
there.
"We will finish the moving process this weekend and the doors will open from next Monday."
The Kempers invite everyone to all in and see the new look bakery and be tempted by a treat or two.
From sweet to savoury, the Kempers stock a complete range of traditional bakery goods, including bread, pies, donuts, scones, biscuits and cakes, along with sandwiches, drinks and coffee.
