The Central Western region is reaping the benefits from a major government initiative to replace street lights throughout the region over a three year period.
Work on the initiative commenced 18 months ago with approximately 15,000 street lights targeted for replacement.
Country Energy regional general manager, Chas McPhail said the program was designed to address potential failures prior to the street light reaching the end of its service life.
“The safety and reliability of street lights are a major priority for Country Energy and this initiative will ensure a more reliable lighting network with the utilisation of the latest street light technology,” Chas said.
Over coming weeks Country Energy crews in Canowindra will be changing street lights as part of the program.
“The program will benefit customers by providing a more reliable street lighting network within the towns and cities throughout the Central West.
As work progresses on the program Country Energy crews will continue to conduct regular patrols of street lights to identify and replace lights as required, and will respond to customer’s calls regarding street lights.
“Although we have this program in place Country Energy will maintain current service levels and maintenance of street lights in all towns, villages and cities across the Central Western region,” Chas said.
To report a street light not working customers can either call Country Energy on 13 20 80 or report it on the Country Energy website at www.countryenergy.com.au.
