Patients of Doctor Kumar's are being urged to plan ahead after a unexpected cancellation of a locum doctor to assist the surgery during an upcoming absence of the well known doctor.
Dr Kumar will be away and the surgery closed from August 21 to September 2, as Dr Roz Bullock, a registrar currently working with Dr Kumar, is unable to practice without the supervision of a GP.
Dr Kumar and his staff tried to secure help to enable the surgery to remain open during his absence, but received news last week that a hoped-for locum fell through.
Surgery staff members are now alerting the community, especially in regards to non-urgent scripts that can be taken care of by the doctor, to do so before Friday, August 18.
Doing so will take some of the pressure off Canowindra's only other doctor surgery, Dr Nick O'Ryan.
Dr Kumar's absence will only be for two weeks; however, surgery staff feel it of prime importance that if patients can see the doctor beforehand regarding any health matters, to organise an appointment as soon as possible.
Contact Dr Kumar's surgery on 6344 1350 to organise an appointment.
