Plea to help keep the Kookaburra in the air

26 Apr, 2006 07:52 AM
The Friends of Canowindra Ballooning are pleading with the Canowindra community to help keep the Kookaburra Balloon in the air.

In a letter to the community thanking them for the recent support of the event, the committee touched on much needed help to pay insurance costs associated with the balloon.

The letter read -

"Dear Sir,

The "Friends of Canowindra Ballooning" would like to thank the following people for their help in making such a success of our weekend.

Fiona, Ann and the volunteers from the Age of Fishes Museum, Frank, Cec B, the Royal Hotel and the Sports Trust and anyone else we have missed - A BIG THANKS!

We would also like to thank the local farmers who allow us to land on their properties and make us feel us feel welcome.

The people of Canowindra showed wonderful support as did the balloonists in coming.

However, we also need to make a plea for HELP.

The Canowindra Kookaburra balloon belongs to Canowindra. We would love to see it fly more for everybody's enjoyment.

However, the annual public liability and aviation insurance of just over $2000 needs to be paid NOW and we don't have the money.

Any individual, business or club donations would be appreciated.

Please contact Jan Kerr on 6344-1819, Ian Bourne 6344 2157 or Richard Glasson on 6364 0215 if you can help.

Kind regards,

The Friends of Canowindra Ballooning."
