After more than 20 years working at the produce mill, Karen Cummings was ready for a change.
It was in that spirit that she took over running the Canowindra Post Office in April of this year.
She says it has been a steep learning curve, but one that has brought with it a lot of satisfaction.
Mrs Cummings has focused on making improvements since she’s taken over, and hopes to continue doing this in the future.
She has expanded the shop’s gift range and recently introduced a jewellery case featuring sterling silver jewellery.
In addition to the Australia Post postage products, there is a wealth of other items on sale in the store.
Small ornaments and figurines, stationery, batteries, printer cartridges, posters, kids’ books and games and electrical appliances including irons, foot spas, toasters, sandwich makers and even washing machines are available.
This is Mrs Cummings’ first Christmas in the post office and she is currently busy making sure everyone’s Christmas wishes get to where they’re going.
If you have been slow sending off your Christmas cards this year, why not dash down to the post office and while you’re there you could pick up some last-minute Christmas ornaments or decorations.
There is also a range of gift cards that would make a perfect gift idea.
The post office will be open this Saturday to give you that little bit of extra time you might need to get all of your Christmas jobs organised.
Whether you’re being served by Mrs Cummings, her daughter Summer Williams or postal assistant Vickie Bowman, the whole team will do their best to help you out.
They would like to wish everyone in Canowindra a merry Christmas and a happy new year and all the best for the holiday season.
