This coming Friday, the Director of Emergency Risk Management with the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), Steve Opper will visit Canowindra to officially launch the Canowindra FloodSafe Guide.
The launch of the Canowindra FloodSafe Guide will take place at the Headquarters of the Canowindra SES Unit at 1pm and will be attended by the Mayor and General Manager of Cabonne Council, members of the Canowindra Floodplain Management Committee, local emergency services and volunteers from the Canowindra SES Unit.
“The Canowindra FloodSafe Guide produced by the SES contains useful information about flooding in Canowindra. It tells people how they can prepare for floods, what to do during floods, and where to go for help,” Craig Ronan, Central West Region Controller said.
“Volunteers from the Canowindra SES Unit will be distributing copies of the FloodSafe Guide to local residents and businesses in Canowindra in the coming months.”
A warm invitation is extended by the SES to all Canowindra residents and business owners to attend, especially those at risk from flooding from the Belubula River.
Similar FloodSafe Guides have already been produced and distributed by the SES for the towns of Eugowra and Molong located in the area covered by Cabonne Council.
The SES is currently working on a number of FloodSafe guides for the City of Bathurst and surrounding villages.
