Preschooler bookworms devour titles in reading challenge

28 Jul, 2010 12:25 PM
The Canowindra Preschool was involved this year and sent out a challenge to its families to read to their children each day and tally all books they read in the month of June.

“It is important to promote a love of books and reading to children from an early age. Exposure to books and literacy are a real benefit to all children right from birth,” said Director Lana Brown.

“We at the Preschool were very happy with the response from the families in relation to our

reading challenge.”

William Grant and Ella Reed were the winners of the Preschool reading challenge, with William reading 91 books and Ella reading 87 books in total.

The Preschool has been encouraging families to read to their children and visit the local library too.

A reminder that Sheryl Selwood from Cabonne Family Links holds Library sessions the 2nd Friday of each month at the Canowindra Library from 10am – 11am.

The session includes story time, music and craft – a reminder, it is free!
