Program provides help to breathe easier

27 May, 2009 10:52 AM
Canowindra Pharmacy is

running an inhaler awareness

program.

Post graduate pharmacy intern Christine Neville is running the 10 day program so people get the most out of their inhalers.

“People can come in and talk to me about their asthma condition and find out how to get the most from their inhalers,” Ms Neville said.

Christine, originally from Canowindra has been studying at Wagga Wagga for the past four years and needed to run a health awareness program as part of her internship.

“I have to do a health promotion program as part of my course requirements. I decided to focus on inhalers as they are one of the most common products used for lung problems which are prevalent in our community,” Ms Neville said.

“We want people to be able to live with their condition with as

little disruption to their lives as possible. Proper inhaler techniques ensures asthma sufferers are gaining the most benefit from their therapy and controlling their

condition the best they can,” Ms Neville said.

Christine will finish her internship at the end of the year and hopes to stay on in Canowindra as a fully trained pharmacist.
