Cabonne Council’s Economic Development Committee have fully endorsed their support of Canowindra hosting the event, and following advice from Cabonne Council’s Tourism Officer Glenn Mickle and other professional advisers, supporters will form an incorporated body to be registered with Department of Fair Trading.
This body will coordinate the event and to act as an umbrella body for any future events not exclusively limited to ballooning.
The incorporated association will require elected office bearers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and at least three committee members.
As part of the Australian Balloon Federation requirements a senior member of the local Business Chamber will also be included on the organising committee.
As well as the main Committee, eight areas of responsibility were identified as potential sub-committees and volunteers are sought for these bodies: ballooning; sponsorships; catering; accommodation; council; media and marketing; local hospitality; and business.
Some initial expressions of interest were noted, but it was agreed more people are needed for all areas.
Nominations will be called for locally and boxes placed in two high traffic businesses in Gaskill Street, being Canowindra Pharmacy and Lawrence’s IGA.
All interested people are encouraged to attend next Wednesday’s meeting, so that office bearers can be elected and a name for the new incorporated association be decided upon.
The meeting will be held at the Age of Fishes Museum on Wednesday, 18 August at 5.30pm.
