The Canowindra Soldiers Memorial Hospital is undergoing not one, but three major renovation and construction projects simultaneously.
Acting Health Service manager Scott Kable asks staff, patients and of course visitors to be patient, as the hospital undergoes several weeks of disruption and changes while work on the projects progresses.
Funding to the tune of $200,000 received under the reins of former manager Jacky Hutton is now being translated into the heating and cooling of all wards via reverse cycle air conditioning, the replacement of 20 year old flooring lino and a complete re-roofing of the building.
Work has already commenced on all three projects.
"These works will result in increased levels of noise and dust levels within the hospital," Mr Kable explained.
"This will require patients to be moved for short periods, and also changes to hospital entrances and exits.
"We just ask people to be patient while this work progresses. All of the pain will really be worth it.
"Once it's all finished it will be fantastic."
Mr Kable said the major works were necessary to improve Occupational Health and Safety, maintenance and hygiene issues in the aging building housing the health service.
The original lino flooring is 20 years old and skirting boards did little to aid easy maintenance and cleaning. Concrete flooring in others areas of the extended building was also very shiny and worn.
Heating and cooling was another issue, which should now be a thing of the past with the installation in every ward of large scale Fujitsu Inverter Reverse Cycle Air Conditioners.
Mr Kable believes the work should be completed in several weeks.
He paid tribute to the efforts of Ms Hutton in securing the funding for the hospital.
Previously a nurse educator at the Orange Base Hospital, Mr Kable said he was enjoying the challenges his new position at Canowindra brought him.
Ms Hutton is currently on long service leave.
"I'm looking forward to continuing the good work being done by my colleagues here," Mr Kable said.
