Canowindra High School elective dance class have set themselves a big program for the next few months.

"While this is the first elective dance class at Canowindra the students are really dedicated and enthusiastic," said Kath Balcombe their dance teacher.

"They put a huge effort in and have a lot of fun."

The Cowra Eistedfodd and the Education Week show at the school are the first two appearances for the group.

They will then head east to the Western Region Dance Festival in Bathurst. This prestigious event involves whole day rehearsal followed by performance that night.

"It's going to be exhausting but very exciting and a huge learning experience for everyone," commented Krystal Eppelstun who helps manage the group.

To top off their program they are also building a major dance work for the school's performance night in term three.

"It is very positive for the students, school and the community," said Dave Evans, Principal. "Being able to offer and run dance as an elective in the School Certificate is a plus for public education in Canowindra."
