Council has exhibited the Budget with a 3.5 per cent increase, as the Minister had not at that stage advised of the allowable increase. He has now advised that figure is 3.4per cent.
The Budget includes a record $11.9M for roads, bridges and transport infrastructure, $700K for Waste Management Transfer Stations, $600K for upgrade of 5 swimming pools, $600K for the Village Enhancement Program and $900K for upgrading Molong Water Supply.
Additionally, $290K, which is Council's 13.5per cent contribution towards the Rural Fire Service, provides for bush fire services and new tankers and $3M with significant Federal and State funding, for the Cabonne Family and Community Services Centre.
"As Cabonne Council nears its 30th year since formation, it can look back with significant pride in the progress that has been made, from very high levels of debt, aging infrastructure and plant and a very poor financial position Council has recovered to be at a stage where it has confidence in its future and has identified and provided funds for asset renewal and replacement and is financially sound," said Cabonne Mayor John Farr.
"This achievement has not been without strong commitment, not only from the current Council but also from Councillors and staff from various other terms of Council over many long years.
"Council has benefited from the long-term strategy and sticking to it and this has provided the opportunity for Council to provide a springboard for the future and ensure its ongoing sustainability."
