This week Rotarians across the world celebrated Rotary International’s 104th birthday on Monday, February 23 .
To celebrate this people in Sydney will see the words “END POLIO NOW – THANKS ROTARY” beamed on the sails of Australia’s famous icon, the Sydney Opera House.
Canowindra Rotarians are ready for another busy year.
The Club recently made a donation, on behalf of the people of Canowindra, towards the recent Victorian bushfires fundraising effort.
Last year there were 5 Shelter Boxes donated thanks to the generosity of the people of Canowindra.
The Victorian fire victims received 150 boxes to assist with emergency housing following the destruction of their homes.
Rotary will be starting up the monthly markets on Saturday 7th March commencing at 8am. Stall holders are welcome and may contact Susan Hegarty on 6344 2911 or Bill Watson on 6344 1886 to book a site.
Alternative arrangements have been made, should it be raining, to allow the markets to be held.
Why not clean out those cupboards and book a site. Remember the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
Over the next few weeks Rotarians will be selling Bowelscan kits.
This is a Rotary program developed in 1982 in New South Wales and now conducted by over 250 Rotary Clubs across Australia.
These Clubs supply approximately 150,000 test kits during their annual Colorectal Screening programs.
Since Bowelscan commenced, it is estimated that more than 1,000 people with bowel cancer and 5,000 with polyps have been detected.
This is an excellent cost effective way to check your health.
It is imperative for ALL men and women over the age of 40 to have a Bowelscan test EVERY YEAR.
The cost per kit is $10. Rotarians will be selling kits on Saturday, 28th February and March 7th outside Lawrence’s IGA.
